What is Internet Safety?
According to Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) internet safety refers to:
(a) protecting minors from
inappropriate matter on the Internet;
(b) providing for the safety and
security of minors when using electronic mail, chat rooms and other forms of
direct electronic communications;
(c) protecting against unauthorized
access, including so-called “hacking,” and other unlawful activities by minors
online;
(d) protecting against unauthorized
disclosure, use, and dissemination of personal information regarding minors;
and
(e) providing for measures
restricting minors’ access to materials harmful to them.
One way to provide
for internet safety is to implement measures for cyber security.
What is cyber security?
Cyber
security is the body of technologies, processes and practices designed to
protect networks, computers, programs and data at schools, work, home and on one’s personal mobile devices
from attack, damage or unauthorized access.
